ANTONIO VIVALDI

Our 5th Nocturne Supper Club in Brockham, Surrey was a huge success on,
Saturday 5th March.
Our team worked tirelessly, and guests responded positively, the event was enjoyed by all…

The theme for our 5th Nocturne Supper Club at
Brockham Village Hall, Brockham, Surrey on the
5th March 2022 is Antonio Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons

Antonio Lucio Vivaldi was an Italian Baroque composer, virtuoso violinist, teacher and cleric. Born March 4, 1678, Sestiere di San Marco, Repùblica Vèneta, Italy. Died July 28, 1741, Kärntnertor, Vienna, Austria.
He is recognized as one of the greatest Baroque composers, and his influence during his lifetime was widespread across Europe. He is known mainly for composing many instrumental concertos, for the violin and a variety of other instruments, as well as sacred choral works and more than forty operas. His best-known work is a series of violin concertos known as "The Four Seasons”.

The Fours Seasons, said to be composed between 1716 and 1717 were a revolution in musical conception: in them Vivaldi represented flowing creeks, singing birds (of different species, each specifically characterised), a shepherd and his barking dog, buzzing flies, storms, drunken dancers, hunting parties from both the hunters' and the prey's point of view, frozen landscapes, and warm winter fires.

We will be joined by the Barber String Quartet, an all female ensemble

Once again, our Chef in Residence, Mary Ince will conjure up a feast appropriate to our composer,
his chosen composition, and time in history, whilst our new sommelier,
Corinna Osbourne-Patterson will curate thematic wines for the occasion.
